Description
These two late 18th Century italian chairs, circa 1780, are of Italian origin although created in a French style. They feature a carved mahogany frame, a serpentine apron with carved roses, and spiral legs with acanthus leaf carving. They’re upholstered in tapestry fabric with nail head trim.
The current owner’s family acquired this pair of lovely Italian chairs in 1956 from Parke-Bernet Galleries in New York City. Parke-Bernet itself was later majority acquired by Sotheby’s in the mid 1960’s.
These chairs have been appraised at $4,000.00 (documentation available). Please inquire to request an appointment to view in person.
The chair frames are in good condition, the tapestry is worn.
