Description
A very early 19th Century, circa 1805, Sheraton mahogany dining table featuring oblong tops with rounded corners and grooved edge on three ring-turned pedestal bases. Each base has four legs ending in acanthus leaf and shell brass toe caps on casters. The table includes 2 extra leaves, each 18” wide. With the leaves mounted, the table extends to approx. 10 feet in length.
The current owner’s family acquired this exquisite table in 1956 from Parke-Bernet Galleries in New York City. This particular table was featured in Parke-Burnet’s “Select English XVIII Century Furniture and Decorations” auction catalog, and was previously owned by a private collector in Connecticut. Parke-Bernet itself was later majority acquired by Sotheby’s in the mid 1960’s.
